Has everything mad... Perfect for copying onto the ipad (which is exactly what I have done). Format of the CD is that each year is in a directory, followed by each issue.

File format for all issues is PDF. Full color if available (remember the early stuff was black and white)!

Filled a missed part of this 42 year olds life!!! -- Great for the avid Mad fan
Hopefully, in the near future, they will rescan all the issues at a higher resolution. A lot of the artwork is lost. It's unclear why they couldn't release multiple DVDs at a higher resolution especially in this day and age of technology. In fact, why isn't this given away for free in google books by now? -- Very poor resolution
I just put Absolutely MAD on my iPad via DROPBOX. This is delightful! Technology enables childhood obsession! -- Absolutely MAD on an iPad
I was a huge Mad Magazine fan back in the 70's and early 80's, that is until Rock music became my main point of interest. I lost touch with the magazine, and all the magzines I did have were lost. I'm glad I purchased this DVD, it is incredible. The issues are clear cut on the screen and the print outs are great also. Navigation is easy as well. I'm just starting to look at what this DVD has, but I would rather print them out and read them like a magazine, than read off of the screen. Well worth the money and if you're any kind of Mad Magazine fan, it is well worth having this DVD. -- Incredible!!!
I love MAD magazine, and it is awesome to have so many issues on hand. This is a great resource. Beats my 15-year hard copy archive hands down. And I don't have to trash them anymore!

The pros: pretty decent search engine to find key words, or merely articles you liked in the past. MAD seems to have also indexed all the small print in the "Letters and Tomatoes" department, as well as random "factoids" in some of the newer issues, etc. Impressive.

Some may not like the way the super specials are set up (only providing the new material for each). I understand the logic, since disk space is limited. All tables of contents are hyper linked, and will take you to the article you select, regardless of magazine type. This is also true for the special inserts. They typically are not part of the mag, but are in a separate PDF file.

The cons: I cannot stand the poorly cropped pages, you lose a lot of the Marginals, some of the best work in the magazine.

The other bummer is that the scans do not scale well, meaning when you zoom in to view the marginals, the image becomes blurry and hard (if not impossible) to read. Same for some of the fine print in many drawings, where much humor can normally be found.

I do not wish to try and print these pages out just to see if the print quality is better than the screen quality, but will try just for the sake of doing it. It would be a pity if this worked, though.

If the scan quality and page size were addressed I would not hesitate to give this a 5-star rating. The above cons each cost a star. Despite these shortcomings, this is a great package to have! -- Nice product but poor scan quality loses some art
